8 Fun Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Minnie Mouse

In honor of Minnie Mouse's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, we wanted to enlighten you with some interesting and little known facts about Minnie Mouse
- The comic strip story "The Gleam" (published in 1942) referred to Minnie as Minerva Mouse.
- Minnie Mouse has three pets. Her dog is named Fifi, cat is named Figaro, who had originated in the Disney animated feature Pinocchio and her mouse named Sweetie.
- The first time Minnie appeared alongsideMickey was in 1929 short called “Plane Crazy.” In it, Mickey invites Minnie along for a ride in his airplane.
- Minnie was originally voiced by Walt Disney and then by Judy Garland (a.k.a. Dorothy from Wizard of Oz)
- Minnie Mouse has many family members that make appearances in various cartoons - Mortimer Mouse is her uncle, and Millie and Melody Mouse are her cousins.
- Mickey Mouse received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fameon Nov. 18, 1978, almost 40 years before Minnie received hers on January 22, 2018. Mickey Mouse was the first cartoon character to receive a star on the famous sidewalk.
- Minnie has appeared in 68 cartoon shorts dating back to 1928
- January 22nd is officially known as National Polka Dot Day and utilizes the hashtag #RockTheDots (referencing Minnie’s polka dot dress)
